The Saejima Family has close ties to the much larger Majima Family, headed by Patriarch Saejima's oath brother Goro Majima. The Family was created as a reward for Taiga Saejima, a former enforcer of the Sasai Family who carried out a hit on Yoshiharu Ueno in 1985 killing 18 men and serving 25 years in prison for it, only to later escape prison and aid 4th Chairman Kazuma Kiryu in stopping a plot by Tokyo MPD Deputy Commissioner Seishiro Munakata to take control of the Tojo Clan. The Saejima Family was first established in 2010 as a successor group to the Sasai Family.
